discovery!
Aug. 19th, 2004 07:36 amThe Mediterranean grocery on Pleasant Street sells cans of stuffed grape leaves.
They have two sizes: six ounces or so (roughly a dozen rolls) for $3.99, and TWO KILOGRAMS (4.4 pounds!!!) for $10.99.
Dang, four pounds is a lot of grape leaves. Such a feast, though. Such a feast.

AH HA HA HA HA HA AHA AHAHSHDHA!!!!@!
They're grape leaves stuffed with rice and marinated so you can actually chew the leaves. They're very tasty. You can wrap them in pita and smear them with hummus and all kinds of things if you want, but mostly I just stick 'em with a fork and eat them like little ricey sausages.

Date: 2004-08-19 10:41 am (UTC)Hm... I have time to go to Worcester and back this afternoon.
Are they good? I'd rather not end up with 2kg of BAD stuffed grape leaves. Yuck.

Date: 2004-08-19 10:50 am (UTC)Maybe pick up some of the little cans first, to see which you like? I liked the Onassis brand best of the three, so that's the brand of the large size I bought.
They aren't going to be as good as the grape leaves you get at, say Sahara, but they're better than the ones at the Middle East (which were entirely bland) and certainly tasty and filling.
