sexy sexy software synths
May. 7th, 2004 10:17 amOkay, so I was listening to Tangerine Dream's Exit today (one of my favorite electronic albums-- nothing really sounds like it, including other Tangering Dream albums, much to my dismay. Gotta say that I really like Le Parc too, though.), and I decided to look for pretty pictures of the PPG Wave, like the ones here.
That pages mentions the existance of a software plugin that emulates the PPG Wave. So, out of curiosity, I go to see how much it costs.
Waldorf has recently gone out of business. As a result, many of their products are being blown out for cheap. MusiciansFriend turns out to have the software (which used to be something like 600 bucks) for 79.99. It's here, although I'm not sure if that link works. If not, search for "Waldorf VST" and you'll find it.
Should be neat to play with. People here seem to like it. It may need more CPU than my sad little laptop can provide, but that's okay. I'll just wait a bit and try it on whatever I upgrade to in a few months.
I keep seeing neat-looking software made by Native Instruments. Then I remember the nightmare that Traktor DJ Studio turned out to be, and I am resolved never to give them my money again.
