At this point, I have fewer computers in my home than I have had for years.

In fact, I'm pretty much down to laptop and game machine, and that's it.

Neat.

This entry makes me especially happy because you correctly used "fewer" instead of "less." I hate when people do that.

I'm so thrilled! Yay grammar!

If a grammar Nazi makes a "fewer/less" correction, does that make her a "fewer Führer"?

neat in both the 'yay! less crap!' and the 'less messy computer bits everywhere' senses!

want an old Mac?

just kiddin. I'm trying to clean out old stuff as well. There's a PowerMac in the basement gathering dust along with a monitor. *sigh*

must... overcome... ratpack mentality.

oooh, but here's a very useful thick-wire ethernet T-connector... or would be useful if anyone still used it.

I'm starting my annual dispose of stuff routine, but it seems that the only stuff I have that people want is the small things (like the 2x 128Mb ECC PC133 memory that went away last night). I don't want to throw out the ELCs (they make good xterminals) and the other old sparcs, but I feel it might be time.

I'm up to owning about 16 computers. Not all of them are in the house, however.

The local ACM kids were happy to have a Sparc... Um, ELC? The better of the two built into the monitor?

I had one of those and it was snapped up pretty quick when the vultures raided my contributions to the loading dock.

ELC, yes. The SLC was the older one that took less memory and was slightly slower.

Do you have any way to offer them more ELCs ? I have two in good working order (plus a sparc 1+, sparc 2 and sparc classic) that I'd rather went somewhere useful than go to a dump.

I sometimes think that I really ought to get rid of *all* my general purpose computers and replace them with a single iMac.

The mediabeast would be replaced by some sort of set-top-box-shaped quiet thing able to do the same sort of stuff (think "TiVo able to play MPEG-4").

And all the piles of junk -- all the boxes and bags of cables and old disks and 3c501s, all of it -- would go too.

I'd need about half the living space I have, then. Much cheaper.
