Given my laptop (with Photoshop) and any image that scales reasonably well, I can give you a 100x100 LJ icon within about 30 seconds. Right now, in fact, I have a little stash of icons I'm not using. If anyone wants to use one of them, let me know and go for it...

Oooh - could you grab this http://tivo.com/resources/images/tivowith.psd and make an icon from it? I want a new icon for [livejournal.com profile] tivolovers but this is a Photoshop format image and I lack the tools to iconify it. It probably isn't square so I'd just make the largest dimension 100 and let the other scale in proportion.

Thanks.

(OH - I've had a xmas gifty thing for you and Ford that I keep forgetting to give you. I had it at the last gathering we were all at, and then last night at the Shoe... Sunday I'd better remember...)

Oh - that comes from here http://tivo.com/resources/ca_downloads.htm

There is also 'TiVo Logo with outline' if that works better. (It is for a black background so I'm trying to find something with the background transparent that could work on different dark backgrounds.)

Okay, give me a minute to give it a try. I'll see what I can do. 8)

...

Well, shoot, THAT was easy. 8)

And that'll give you incentive to come to dinner Sunday...

Hmm, Mozilla is unhappy:

The image “http://www.gweep.net/~mute/pics/tivo-lj.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Uhhhhh. Okay.

It displays in everything else I can run here. I bet it's mozilla being lame.

Can you wget it and display it that way, or otherwise download it?

Weird. I used photoshop, the same as everything else...

IE also gives me the 'red x' icon instead of the image. I'll download it and see what Gimp says about it.

Gimp will open it - but the colors are gone. The TiVo dude is B&W, all the letters are white, etc. And the background looks like pale blue instead of transparent. Looks like color data got munged.

Okay, the color data _DID_ get munged. I'll get the original photoshop doc and look at it again.

OOOOh, I see what they did. Okay, there are multiple layers in this document, and each one is a separate entire logo. One is color, one is mono...

I don't know why you thought there was supposed to be a transparent background... Aside from .jpgs not doing transparent, that document has a blue background in the little image there and in the document itself...

All right-- I have learned NEW THINGS! Go me! Dig if you will this picture!

4K, gif, transparent background, white glow, so mr. tivo will stand out Against A Dark Background (by Iain Banks-- recommended), and all that. Give it a try whenever you drag yourself out of bed, please? 8)

Well, yeah, JPEGs don't do transparent, but I thought since they said 'for dark background' than the PSD wouldn't have its own background.

I got it - looks good. Thanks!

Same URL? Seems to have the same problem. Eh. Don't worry about it, I don't want to be a pain.

Weird.

I dunno. It looks okay on my Mac. I'm sure that means it's a Mozilla problem.

No - it doesn't work in Moz or IE, and the colors are gone in The Gimp.

Weird.

Well, I exported it using "Save For Web," if you want to check again. Strange.

Fails for me on a recent latest-trunk Firebird. It actually crashed IE for me. It works in QuickTime, however. This is Win2K, btw.

Try making it a PNG, maybe.
