Okay, so, looks like Warren Spector paid attention to complains about the DX2 demo, and posted a FAQ here.

In it, most of my issues are address, including the worst one, the HUD! Huzzah!

The HUD seems to be taking up too much of my screen, it’s too close to the center.



There are a couple of things you can do to make this less intrusive. Within the game, you can go into options and set the ‘Interface Opacity’ lower. The other tweak is to go into your System folder and open your default.ini file and find the following setting:



FOV__d=61
Change the 61 to a 67, and this will effectively move the HUD to the outer edges of your screen, so more of the game world is visible.

Now I have to go reinstall the demo and try this stuff. Or wait until Wednesday (or, heh, Thursday) and just buy the damn game and try it out.

Deus Ex: Invisible War is one of the reasons why I'm tempted to pop another disk into my desktop and throw windows on. (The other being Half-Life 2.)

I'm probably just going to settle for getting the console version.
