Via [livejournal.com profile] greybar:

In today's Globe, Governor Romney says calls to his office are against
the Court's decision to grant equal marriage rights to same-sex couples.
If you want to offer him your opinion, his number is
(617) 725-1100.

I just called and it takes 30 seconds to tell Gov. Romney that you support the SJC decision and equal marriage rights for same-sex couples (if you do). An aide will answer...just tell them why you are calling and they will ask you where you fall on the issue.

call if you feel compelled - thanks!

I just called. Go me.

Mitt Romney is a fucking assbasket, and needs a kicking. Smug fuck.

Yeah, just called too. It's sort of a toss-up for me on feeling that my call won't make a difference, and then imagining countless other people with my opinion as well also calling in. What if none of us did?

smile

Although, I'd have been happier if they'd asked where I was calling from like when I call the senators and reps.

wow, a livejournal post actually inspiring me to make a phone call.

I left my name, but they didn't seem to be actively soliciting it. I had to ask if they wanted my name after I stated that I support same-sex marriage, and he said ``if you'd like'', and he seemed to want to get me off the phone rather than collecting my address, so I didn't bother to push that.

Maybe it depends on the aide? Mine asked for my name automatically.

maybe.

and they may also be trying to introduce a sampling bias. people who leave their name are going to get more weight than people who don't. if they can arrange things so that they always ask for names for the view they support, and don't always ask for the view they don't support, they can skew the statistics in their favor.

Is anyone really sure this number really goes to Romney's office?

I'd like to see the piece in the Globe that has this.

Don't we all tell our friends that if there's no link or some other way to verify the article really exists, it's probably a hoax? Shouldn't we expect the same from ourselves?

I've already begun searching for more information and I'll let you know what I find out.

Ya know... I did a reverse lookup and couldn't find it. But I found some other articles which would make me think it was still the right number. Still, I wanted to see the article that was soliciting the calls. Well, I did find the original article. It does not actually solicit calls, it just mentions that people did call. So... calling is still a GOOD THING! But the original post implied that had asked for people to call and express their opinion. This does not appear to be the case:

http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/324/metro/Groups_muster_to_fight_gay_marriage_in_Mass_+.shtml

Aides to Governor Mitt Romney, who has denounced the ruling as up-ending ''3,000 years of recorded history,'' reported fielding several hundred telephone calls yesterday from across the United States mostly praising his criticism of the court's decision.

''It was 2-to-1 in opposition to the court's ruling,'' said Romney spokeswoman Shawn Feddeman.

I'm still planning on calling. (Had a busy weekend.) But now I can send it on to others and not feel skeevy about it.

romney romney doo, where are you?
