booze review: Wishing Tree 2002 Shiraz
Nov. 13th, 2003 09:34 pmYoung and dumb. Not particularly complex. Not particularly flavorful. I suppose the hint should have been the part on the label where it says "Grapes were sourced from multiple locations." No decent vintage would use the word "source" as a verb.
This is actually a little better than the 2002 Jacob's Creek, which has been... ungrowing on me. Still not as much of a joy as the 2000 thing I had last week. The Wishing Tree has a wide, flat flavor that spreads out through your mouth and doesn't really leave much behind. Very little fruit, just the shiraz spice, and not a particularly distinguished version thereof.
I'm going to suck down the rest of the bottle, but I probably won't pick it up again.
(I have one more Shiraz lined up-- another 2000 something-or-other that should be pretty impressive, considering. Here's hoping...)
