...next weekend I shall replace my car stereo, which has begin to skip annoyingly. It's five years old, and has been played for several hours a day-- basically, listening to CDs every moment of driving for 106,000 miles. I'm not surprised the little laser has begun to fail...

I've picked a replacement with a front-panel aux-in jack so I can hook up the iPod, since the little radio adaptor I picked up a while back turned out to be extremely unsatisfying.

Hooray for ongoing projects. Of course, next weekend is Purgatory, so I'll have to see if I can get it installed before that drive, so I can give it a good shake-down cruise...

not that this helps you any, but the iTrip radio adapter for the iPod is turning out to be *far* superior to the little random one I had before.

Mm, okay. Although I've found that Massachusetts really isn't the place for these things, since in order to make sure the FM adaptor thingy is th eonly thing on any given frequency within range is to actually unhook the external antenna from my car and put the little transmitter right up next to where the antenna plugs in.

I dunno. I think I'd rather just go with the aux-in, and I would have if I'd had one to start with. I've been using a Belkin adaptor, which came out pretty high on the latest review of multiple transmitters that I read, anyway...

I'd rather have aux-in too, but $35 for an iTrip vs a whole lot more for a new stereo. Just wanted to let you know that the iTrip sucked less than the others. I like it because I can program it anywhere on the dial, not just 4 frequencies around 88.5.
