So, I was feeling sort of alienated earlier, and now I feel all warm and squishy (in a good way, even). 8)

My current rather vague plans involve taking as long as vacation as I can get away with (meaning probably about two weeks), potentially with [livejournal.com profile] jehanna, although that'll depend on what she thinks about the whole thing and her employment status and what she can get away with and so on. I loved visiting London and environs last August, and I'd like to poke around there some more (visit the Tate Modern, for example, and other things we didn't have time for last year), as well as visit other areas. [livejournal.com profile] eccles' spare room is an intriguing possibility, too, as that area is one I've been wanting to visit anyway (yes, his spare room. I find the spare rooms of foreign countries unspeakably fascinating).

Ideally, I can fit in as much visiting of people I know from online as possible. Turns out you guys are all over the place, which is cool for me. 8)

I guess I'll just ask more as my potential plans solidify. Right now, you've seen what they consist of so far-- "Uh, go to GB, visit people, see museums, historical sites and stuff."

So, thank you. 8) With any luck, I'll get to meet as many folks out there as possible. I will be in touch...

I don't need to travel. I have Bill Bryson's books.

Bill Bryson rocks. (And buying or borrowing his books is a lot cheaper than travelling...) I do prefer travel when I can afford it though ;)

You can also visit Manchester and say, "Why didn't I grow up here in the late '70s??"

Or just drive around (Liverpool, is it?) looking for My Bloody Valentine.

If you can remember growing up in Manchester in the late 70s, you weren't really there!

I have a good friend in Wales who is obsessed with David Gilmour. I think she lives with her parents, but let me know if you want me to try asking her.

Obviously, this entirely depends on how long you try to go for, when, and whether I am so lucky as to have a job at that point. But the general idea sure appeals.

Ooo!! The Tate Modern! My favorite art museum in the world! Have you ever been there before? It's terrific. Try tea at their cafe. Best tea [livejournal.com profile] tapuz and I had in London.

We didn't make it when we went--it was one of the tentative things on our list but it never happened. Still want to check it out when we're back.
