The last two glasses worth of the wine from the other day was still good.
jehanna was also impressed. This makes me happy-- my judgement, although new-formed, is trustworthy. (The mayo smoothie was a joke, duh. You did know that, right?)
She's just given me the last half of a glass, and I am filled with anticipation. In all likelihood, we will never have this wine again. For all I know, this is the last. I mentioned to friends how good I thought it was, and was told that yes, the 2000 Syrah was one of Dave's best. There can't have been much to start with, and now there's a bottle less. Like all the most poignant experiences, wine is ephemeral and fleeting. I have a few sips left, and then it's gone.
The Capri Camembert is quite tasty as well. I'm very fond of all of the local cheeses I've tried so far. I'm guessing that future special occasions will be marked by stops on the way home to pick up local cheese.
Local cheese, a friend's wine, and Blankets, a graphic novel by Craig Thompson which is currently beautiful and tender and probably heading for despair, and I'm set for the evening.
