Today's sleepy baby song
Mar. 7th, 2010 04:27 pmSo the young man here was fussy. I'd been walking him around strapped to my chest for a while, and he'd been fussy. We took a break to see if he wanted a nap in bed (which would mean a nap for me, too), but no go there either. So I decided to wander around, and
stophittinyrslf asked if I'd put on some music while she makes dinner.
It's important to understand here that the young man of the house, when he's in this kind of mood, basically demands constant motion. If you stop walking or bopping up and down, he gets fussy. If you sit down, it's an instant gateway to shrieking. Turning on music requires that I sit down in front of the computer for long enough that I can start up iTunes, find some music, and play it. Thus, while picking music, the fussy boy is likely to get even fussier.
This time, however, I decided I wanted to listen to some Bad Religion. I dialed it up on the iTunes and hit play on "Hooray for Me" and started kinda rocking back and forth while it played.
30 seconds into the song, there was a tiny, almost inaudible *thunk* as the baby's head hit my chest. He was fast asleep.
I am now sitting on the couch, with the baby. It's a little uncomfortable, since the position of his head means I can't really relax my neck. It's also testing my touch-typing ability, since there's a baby between me and the keyboard. But I'm sitting on the couch AND the baby is sleeping. Once again, everybody wins!
