I think, as a sysadmin, I've learned to empathize with this anonymous lineman out on the roads. Also, longing. And that feeling that while you'd really like to take a break, what you're doing is important enough to enough people, and you take enough pride in your work, that it's hard to pull away for even a small vacation. And the rest of it.

So here's Johnny Cash doing it too. I prefer the original, with the little synthesized noises and the orchestrated heterodyning business in the bridge, but Cash brought a heavy weariness to basically everything he did that works well with this song.
