We're used to cities being largely giant hermetic seals over the landscape, with occasional holes poked into them to let bits of park and a tree or two through. In these photos, there are some streets paved with cobblestones, but some aren't-- buildings just kind of sit there, on the ground. My first thought when I saw the first picture there (before I realized that the texture of the ground meant cobbles and not just caked mud) was that Burning Man is getting more elaborate every year...
