I didn't twig to it until the names of the two countries got mentioned, at which point it became obvious even to an unreconstructed atheist like me. Oddly, at that point I felt irrationally angry, as if I had been deliberately tricked by someone who knew I'd fallen for it and was now laughing at me. I didn't even finish watching the pilot.
Oddly enough I live opposite where they are filming a lot of it, i.e. Brooklyn Museum. It's also fun to spot other filming locations, inside the Time Warner Center looking out over Columbus Circle was another big one.
Overall I though that it was pants, so went to Netflix and added Lovejoy to my queue instead.
