"Look out! TERRORISTS could steal your research! That you were about to PUBLISH! And then they could KNOW STUFF! That they could know ANYWAY! By READING A MAGAZINE! In which you would PUBLISH THE STUFF THAT THE TERRORISTS WOULD KNOW! But, see, they would have STOLEN IT! Or, worse, they could PRETEND to be other scientists! And then you'd TELL THEM STUFF! That you want EVERYONE TO KNOW! And then the TERRORISTS WOULD KNOW THE STUFF THAT YOU WANT TO PUBLISH SO THAT EVERYONE CAN KNOW IT!!!"
Sounds like the perfect disguise for a terrorist would be as an agent telling them how to keep their research from being stolen by terrorists - I'm betting they get all sorts of nifty access to labs. . .
Thanks for posting. I first saw this article, in all places, my breakroom at work when I was at lunch one day. I completely forgot about it.

This quote from DDB cracks me up: "He said it was useful to open lines of communication, although he didn't think WPI would take the FBI up on its offer to train faculty, because the university is already well versed in how to protect its research. He welcomed the FBI's interest, however."
