Containers delivered! But they were late, so I didn't get a start on moving stuff until around 7 (after getting locks and stuff). I just stopped, though, and most of the big stuff is out locked in a cube, and the rest of it is just back-and-forth and not much complicated. We just have a LOT of boxes of books. Dang.

But since we can't do much cleaning while stuff is in the way, that means that tomorrow will include first quite a lot of packing and moving boxes, and then a bunch of cleaning, along with the final refinishing of the wood in the pig room. So tomorrow will be a LONG day.

ReloCubes, which are basically the same thing. They turn out to be bigger than I thought they would be. Hooray for that!

Excellent! That's what we like to hear...

I told someone at work about them.. she suggested that they were "off-brand PODS" - PUDS.

How was the pricing? I was disappointed to see that for the price of one "Pods", I could just buy a van and drive it to Orange County myself. It was like $500 in general costs, plus $5300 for moving the pod from A to B.

~2800 for 2 cubes and 30 days storage on the other end.

This is from U-Pack, who don't call their "Pods." The Pod guys were MUCH more expensive.

Also consider that renting a UHaul means you have to drive a UHaul, and they eat gas, don't go over 50 miles an hour without complaining a lot (recommended speed is 45. Cross-country. Ick.), and their brakes tend to catch on fire on your way down the other side of the Rockies. Just ask Zoner... It's worth it to not have to deal with that.

I wasn't thinking U-haul... I was thinking compared to going down to a used car dealer and buying an E250 (which would be about $5K). The comparison being, if I'm going to spend the money anyway, at least I'd own a van at the end of it. ;)

Goofiness aside, though, thanks for the tip. Did you do a lot of shopping around for various cubes?

The last time I drove a U-Haul it was their 17' truck, and it was happy to do 65 on 495. Is it the bigger ones that have trouble, or did I just draw a supercharged U-Haul?
