Huh.. I was thinking of getting guinea pigs, but now that I know they are carnivorous and prone to biting people's hearts out, I think I might stick with hamsters. Hamsters are too short to GET to the heart.
Guinea pigs are easily distractable-- just keep a little bag of cilantro with you at all times, and if they start looking bloodthirsty toss a handful their direction. They'll devour it instead and you can make your getaway while they're feasting.
