Predictably enough, I was betrayed. It's sad when I can start off thinking "There's no way this can last" and be right. Surprisingly, though, I was not betrayed by the obviously-young and egoistic "leader of Tanis," who claims that he has organized his region into a massively competent research machine. No, even though he seemed a little sulky, and did the whole "Yeah, well, it's a lot of work and I didn't really want it anyway" thing, he voted and let his vote stand. Instead, I was betrayed by somebody who I started off respecting, but who I've watched carefully and have seen leap at an opportunity, even at the expense of her own honor. I will be very careful should I encounter her in the future.
All in all, it's been a learning experience. I'm not bitter, although I'm disappointed. And now I know who not to trust.
