Signs you may be overtipping:

When the pizza place says it'll be 45 minutes every time you order, but the pizza consistently shows up in 15. Or less. (I think it was closer to 10 minutes this time. I'm not sure how much faster it could be and still be cooked.)

I have been known to tip 30 or 40% at times, mostly because I live on a campus where all the buildings are fucking hard to find, and the pizza's really cheap (we have La Rosetta "legitimate business enterprise since 1999" Pizzeria). Also because that's how the change works out, but it tends to be worth it.

I knew a guy who used to work for the pizza place my father and I ordered from. He told me the drivers would fight over who got to deliver to our place cause we were the best tippers in the area.

So, if somebody consistently orders a pizza that costs, normally, 12.00 or so, plus a 2.75 delivery charge (...they didn't used to include that-- that's new as of the last year or so), for a total of 15.50 or so and then gives you a $20 and tells you to keep the change, is that a big tip or just what's expected?

I thought it was fairly normal-- it ends up being $4.00 on a $16.00 charge, which is 25 percent, right? Or is that a lot?

I dunno. I don't feel inclined to change my behavior, because the pizza is VERY tasty (best pizza in Worcester, I think), and it's easy to say "20 bucks in my pocket? we can order pizza!" and not have to worry about change and so on...

Really, though, when they take the order, they say 45 or 60 minutes (it's a very popular place), but the pizza shows up within 15 or 20 minutes, consistently. I'm not going to complain, and hey, I could do _far_ worse than to have the local pizza delivery guys like to come to my house...

I think etiquette is, like, 15% for normal service, 20%+ for great service, $2 minimum, extra buck in bad weather.
