I've got a handy program here that will consistently crash an SGI Altix 350 HARD. It's great-- instant DoS! The system won't answer on serial, even, although you can get back to the L1 BIOS console thingy and reboot it from there.

It's unfortunate that this program is normally used for long-term research computing. Oops.

Crashing hilariously expensive equipment is nice but expensive computers are expected to crash. I don't think it compares to the ability to crash my Nokia phone with the right combination of characters in a text message. Now that impresses me. It passes many a long winter afternoon.

If only I could replicate the combination that locked the phone so thoroughly that the off button didn't work. Think how cool I would be then! :)
