- cleaned up after yesterday's queso madness.

- took wheel o' cheddar out of press and set it out to dry.

- made a batch of quickie mozzerella, which probably has too much salt in it, but [livejournal.com profile] stophittinyrslf will like it.

- fixed the semi-broken iMac, finally.

- read.

- listened to some music.

- played a bit of Elite Force II, which is a pretty lame Star Trek licensed first-person shooter. The first was decently appealing, if repetitive and a little too dependant on TONS OF IDENTICAL ENEMIES and boss monsters, while this one has a bad case of cut-scene-itis. A couple of levels are just "watch cut scene, walk around, watch cut scene, walk around, watch cut scene" without even anything interesting going on during the walking. Lots of Enterprise corridors and things. Ooooh boy.

I'm kind of sleepy now. Plus I put a bagel in the toaster sometime around 1:30 and I think it's still in there. Oop. At least I have cheese to put on it now.

By a peculiar coincidence, I've just been replaying the original Elite Force and thinking about seeing what newer Trek-licensed games might be out there. I've rather wanted to try Bridge Commander since it came out, but at the time I didn't have a machine with sufficient wang to run it, and since then I've not been in a Star Trek frame of mind much. Now that I am, I might look for it.

I share your assessment of Elite Force as reasonably entertaining, despite its relatively huge flaws (RavenSoft Standard Bad Guy Distribution, the Voyager license); actually, though, I think my favorite feature of the game was the thing that came with the expansion pack where you could just roam around the ship breaking into people's quarters and stealing their stuff. :)

And getting rewarded for stealing their stuff!

And having them get grumpy at you about it.

And if you decided to have ol' Alex be a girl in the first one, the cutscene where the female crewmember is pretty obviously hitting on you becomes much more amusing.

Yeah, I thought that was entertaining, especially since that was like the one standard example of cultural tokenism in which Star Trek never got around to indulging.
