Today's summary.
Nov. 19th, 2004 08:52 amHow I can tell I'm getting older:
My eyes start to burn after only four hours of gaming. It used to take eight or nine. Or twelve. Or heck, I think I played straight through Unreal in a single weekend. Yes, including all the damn "Well, that's pretty. Nice travelogue. Can I have some plot please?" levels.
Maybe my monitor is doing something weird, but I don't think so.
In other news:
Half-Life 2 still fun.
Giant junkyard cranes with electromagnets also fun. Unless you're one of four or five bad guys with machine guns standing next to a shipping container. Tee hee.
Car-driving also fun.
Gravity gun, lots of fun.
Little magnetic electric mine things not fun. Shooting them into the sea with the grav gun, fun.
Car with gun on front: Yes, fun.
Ant-lions: Not fun.
Realizing that you're playing a stealth game with a gravity gun and big flat pieces of plywood and metal and stuff instead of water and rope arrows: Fun once I realized that, but, duh, that sure took me long enough.
In short: Fun!

Date: 2004-11-19 07:36 am (UTC)I've maxed out my ammo, because I love to use the gravity gun. My favorite has to be the giant industrial saw blades. I love the cut-enemy-in-half animation and death sequence!
Actually, the acting isn't half bad either. Not because the graphics are a lot more human and expressive, but because it looks like somebody has actually done some choreography and plot and dialogue development.

And yes! I'm really enjoying the acting! It looks like they had (gasp!) a BUDGET! And used it wisely!
They got Mark Laidlaw back to write the story for this one, too, and you can tell. People are saying the plot is a little thin, and, well... Perhaps. But there's as much as there needs to be, I think, and I really like the backstory and finding out what happened between the first game and this one.
