obscurity DSW meme time
Oct. 15th, 2004 02:45 pmI am an obscure crap fiend, so this'll be easy.
Name a CD you own that no-one else on your friends list does:
Well, aside from home-made CDs and mixes and goofy bootlegs and so on, hmmmm....
"Music for On Myo Ji," by Brian Eno and J. Peter Schwalm (CD 2) and a bunch of people whose names I can't read (CD 1), I'm guessing. It's a very pretty CD, with a wraparound silver foil hologram and clear plastic case.
Name a book you own that no-one else on your friends list does:
Comic? "MiracleMan" issue 15.
Book book? What A Young Boy Ought To Know, published in 1909, is a lengthy missive in the form of transcribed phonograph cylinders from an older doctor and/or priest to a young man approaching puberty. It goes into great detail about how terrible masturbation is, including graphic details of the terrible shocks delivered to one's nervous system by such abuse and the horrors caused by such repeated shocks, including listlessness, paleness, loss of appetite, mental fatigue, and so on. It was actually written earlier than 1909, but my edition was published then. The advice in this book has not, one must note, aged well.
Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/etc that no-one else on your friends list does:
"Face Like A Frog," Sally Cruickshank, featuring the musical talents of The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo.
Possibly also "The Forbidden Zone," oddly enough also a movie featuring the aforementioned Mystic Knights.
Name a place that you have visited that no-one else on your friends list has:
Fields, Oregon, population 12. Good luck finding it on a map, too.

Date: 2004-10-15 02:50 pm (UTC)I've got a full run of MiracleMan, at least up to #21ish. It's been a while since I've got those out to look at 'em, though...

Date: 2004-10-15 02:57 pm (UTC)Well!
They only printed up to 23ish, too. 24 was partly done, but never finished.
Those are, um, somewhat difficult to find.

Date: 2004-10-15 09:45 pm (UTC)I think the lawsuit resolution might finally let Miracleman return in old and new issues. (Gaiman has plans to finish up the storyline and write a followup - and Marvel has said it's OK for Neil to call him Miracleman or Marvelman.)

I have fond memories of watching "Forbidden Zone" in college, but that might be the Honey Jagermeister talking.

Date: 2004-10-16 07:57 am (UTC)I am saving "Forbidden Zone" for a special occasion.
And perhaps a lot of beer.

Date: 2004-10-15 05:14 pm (UTC)That's odd. I find most of those to be symptoms of excessive abstention.
... What?
