I KNEW IT!

Ultima is NOT reachable by making choices! In fact, you can only reach it by NOT making any choices! Just like they said!

Schmucks. I always wondered about that.

Ye gods, I haven't thought about those books in ages...
Not sure if I had that one or not...

...i found it when i was thirteen or fourteen only after
leafing through the entire book page-by-page in a fit of
frustration; at first i was mildly pleased with myself,
then i felt vaguely cheated/ripped off.

Yeah, I flipped through to find it (actually the two-page art spread kind of stood out even during normal reading), and then tried to work backwards to it. I finally figured that must have been what you were supposed to do when I couldn't find any pages that linked to it...

And, yeah. Mildly pleased and then mildly annoyed.

hrm. I didn't have that one. . . but most of the books were OK in regards to that.

*hugs*

Makes me wish I had that book, but like others here I fondly recall the series.

Holy cow. I sat there for hours flipping back and forth, sure I had missed the path to that page.

Damn.

The only one of those that I ever owned was the one written by Harry Harrison's "You Can Be the Stainless Steel Rat".

Most of the paths through the book ended with you dying in clever, fiendish, or just plain stupid (but always funny) ways.

I actually mapped that damn book out as a kid to make sure. Stupid poorly linked ghetto hypertext.
