Well, that was a cool weekend. [livejournal.com profile] stophittinyrslf and I headed down to VA to visit [livejournal.com profile] oletheros and [livejournal.com profile] pizza_tram in their lovely new abode with their pleasant new housemates, and crashed on their exciting sofabed. Also met another list person. All good company, and lots of comics were eyed and read and passed around.

Saturday, headed to SPX in the morning, wandered around until 2, and then started volunteer stuff for the expo. I spent an hour shooing the hoi polloi away from the food room so the artists and exhibitors could eat. All pleasant people (and nobody tried to sneak in or anything, which was also nice). Met various artists and chatted, including the young lady who does The Devil's Panties. Was relieved from that, and spent an hour watching the table full of auction goods-- various artists had donated sketches, prints, books, and so on for an auction to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. They had the goodies out on a table in the lobby, and I got to eye people as they peered at the stuff. After an hour of that, I spent a while on Badge Patrol, and then manned the random-question end of the registration table until the auction itself began.

Like a dope, I bid on things, and, um, won them. I now need to acquire frames for a print of a John Totleben painting of part of MiracleMan 15 and a Larry Marder print of strange Beanworld things. Now he just has to write the dang comic around the stuff in this picture. Sheesh.

Then, through a torrential downpour back to the house. Then, more comics! We were joined by [livejournal.com profile] shadow27 and his young lady companion whose name I did not catch. Around midnight, crashed again.

Today, drove back. This time, we went back a route that avoided New York City, which, although it takes longer, is a MUCH more pleasant drive. It would have been shorter, too, except that I missed an important sort of turn and added about an hour and a half to an already lengthy drive. Pleasant company and good driving weather won out, though, and now we are home and crashing.
