That was sure a long time to wait for a series to finish, though. Man.

I think I'm in the same boat - I read the first three, but then got tired waiting for subsequent volumes. I think I bought the fourth (I was shocked to see it even come out), but haven't taken the time to read it. At this point, I probably have to go back and re-read the first three.

A-bloody-men. I picked it up right after "The Waste Lands" came out in paperback, and remember waiting eagerly for "Wizard and Glass".

I actually like the ending, as much as I expected to like any ending you could possibly stick on that series. Pretty much anything was doomed to be anticlimax. The whole self-insertion thing got more than a bit grating.

Ending was completely expected. It was the only thing he could have found in the tower that work.
What annoyed me was Randall Flagg.
