The more I listen to Castaways and Cutouts, the more resemblances I see to Brian Eno's slower near-pop songs. "Cocoon" and parts of "California One" (about 4:30 or 5:00 into "California One/Youth and Beauty Brigade," right before the quiet spoken bit) resemble nothing so much as the softer parts of Before and After Science and pieces of Another Green World. The slow ride cymbal and lazy piano seem to be drawn straight from "Energy Fools The Magician" and "Everything Merges With The Night." All it would need is Robert Fripp's thick guitar roaming around and exploring the edges of the song and it could be a lost Eno track.

Not everything on this album is Eno-esque, but you can certainly see other influences. Highly recommended.
