[livejournal.com profile] jehanna's parents came to visit mine in Oregon. They arrived in Portland, rented a card, and drove down to Stayton, where the car was immediately crushed by a falling tree limb.

Fortunately this did not happen with my parents in the car.

This renders it merely random and amusing..."Welcome to Oregon! Timberrrrr!"

that happened to my twin brother, and his real car, parked outside his house. He called the police, non-emergency line, who told him to call the parks department, who told him that he'd have to call 911 to get a police car dispatched to make a report. This was in the Bronx, NY. Sigh. At least with a rental, they're not liable.

When you said crushed I was picturing a huge tree limb and a mostly flat car, not just a very smooshed roof :)

Eep! Did ya'll do something recently to make Nature mad? This almost seems retaliatory. That or terrible luck.

No kidding. Color me disappointed. That's more "slightly smooshed" than "very smooshed", even.

so lemme get this straight.

you and [livejournal.com profile] jehanna are still in Massachusetts.

But her parents...

... went to visit your parents...

... with neither of you even in the same time zone.

That's... really weird.

So when do you leave and return? Jer and I were talking tonight, thinking maybe Jan 2nd for booze at HOUSE.

I also have a bottle of wine the engineering VP at work gave to me for the holidays that I'll bring. I know nothing about wine. :-)

trees hate cars. they're natural enemies. really!

when that happened to me, i lucked out, in that it was a littler tree and the branches landed JUST SO to prevent crushination.

Nope. [livejournal.com profile] solipsistnation is in Oregon with both sets of parents, whereas I am in MA because my job didn't allow me enough time off around xmas to go with.

But, it should be noted that our parents really like each other. They've bonded. It's really great but also pretty strange. They planned all these visiting-each-other things ages ago--to some extent, at our wedding. o.O
