"Although almost everything on these albums floats my proverbial boat, I have to admit that 'Map Ref. 41°N 93°W' on 154 is possibly Wire's greatest single achievement. It's quite catchy, very pretty, and has unbelievably impenetrable clever-dick art-fag lyrics (sort of a trademark, really) that shouldn't work but do. Plus: it's also the first Wire song I ever spontaneously figured out (like, what it means). Plus: it's also the first Wire song I ever heard. And especially plus: I've never quite gotten over the shock of hearing Colin Newman reading his stage directions ('Chorus:'). Hee, hee."
