I'm sitting in the sun room, using my WinXP video game machine.
In the other room, my TiBook is sitting on the table next to the "His" couch. Its hard drive is softly ticking.
I'm running iTunes on both systems, and listening to the songs on my laptop, streamed wirelessly to my WinXP system and decoded and sent through a long cable to The Big Stereo.
Yay Apple. They pulled it off, slarti's problems notwithstanding. (It's probably something weird he did himself. Ha! So there! Apple is infallible!)
It's kind of strange to see the MacOS X brushed aluminum look sitting in the middle of my WinXP (with all the bells and whistles disabled so it looks as Win95ish as possible) desktop.
Hooray for the promise of technology. This is the part of the future I like-- being able to listen to music anywhere in the house from something wireless. 700 albums in my shirt pocket. The internet wherever I happen to be. I feel all starry-eyed and stuff.
I also am very amused by the music quiz game in the new iPod software. Basically, it displays 5 song titles from your collection while playing some piece of one of them-- and not necessarily the beginning, either. A timer counts down. You choose from the 5 songs listed the name of the one you're hearing. It's pretty neat, except that I have all this weird ambient and sombient stuff on there... "Huh, which piece of modulated white noise is this?"
