"I'm putting you on the Game Grid."
Sep. 7th, 2003 01:43 pmTron 2.0 is a TOTAL wish-fulfillment game. Wow, I'm having a blast with this. It glows! I can run around! I can walk up to guys (and girls) in tight suits with glowy lines all over and be hailed with "Greetings, program!" It's like being ten years old again, except I get to do all that stuff I wanted to do. Yeah!
Plus they got Bruce Boxleitner to do the voice of Alan Bradley again, reprising his role from the movie. For that matter, all the voice acting is quite good. The graphics glooooow. I have hefty hardware, and Tron 2.0 takes advantage of it.
Light cycle racing is really hard. Man.
But, wow. Tron 2.0. It's SO PRETTY! And it's full of little references to the first movie. "Oh, did I mention the tanks?"
Now, for my life to be complete, they just have to let me drive one of those tanks. Yeah.

Get the code that lets you see the names of programs, and watch carefully. Especially if you remember the Marathon series of games.
There are a couple of annoying jumping puzzles, and it turns out that the disc is a better weapon than pretty much anything else, so most of the bonus stuff doesn't get used much once you've got the disc. That's much like the lightsaber in Jedi Knight II, which was SO much better than everything else that I just started ignoring the rest of my arsenal once I had it.
Those are pretty minor complaints, though. Tron 2.0 is GREAT.
