Okay, I've realized why the concept of taking guitar lessons makes me nervous...
I usually think that if you're going to learn to do something like play an instrument, you should do it somewhere people won't hear you, at least until you're reasonably good. Thus, playing guitar badly for somebody seems very strange to me, and makes me a bit uncomfortable. It doesn't matter that I'm, effectively, paying somebody to play guitar badly at them. It's still, like, "Uh, I'm not good enough to play in front of people," even though that is demonstrably not actually true.
Anyway.
