california stuff
Jun. 16th, 2007 10:43 pmToday we visited an affluent open-air mall sort of thing. I mostly wanted to visit a bookstore because I have read everything in the apartment but
stophittinyrslf's books about crossword puzzles and people who do them, and I've even started in on one of them out of desperation.
So, off to a bookstore, including wandering around Santana Row (Dude, Santana! \m/ \m/). Today's checklist of California Things:
- a wine bar
- ...located next to another wine bar
- ...with another wine bar across the street.
- a parking garage full of BMWs, Mercedes, and Porsches jockeying for spots.
- ...driven by groups of carefully touseled faux indie kids in calculatedly aged t-shirts
- a stylish blonde woman with tiny accessory dog talking to another stylish blonde woman with a tiny accessory dog. (Different breeds! Collect them all!)
- a beverage store (BevMo! Beverages and More! They aren't kidding, either. Lots of random stuff in there)
- ...that shares a building with a Porsche dealership.
I still crave that falafel, too. THAT, at least, is cheap, but you have to cross a wide region of massive affluence before you reach the place where real people live and buy food and stuff. Plus, it's really good. Fresh hot falafel crammed into a pita, with lettuce and tomato bits and this great thick hot sauce that's just a little sweet. Yum, falafel. Yeah. Totally not obsessed.
